Samsung will stop supporting smart watches with the Tizen operating system by the end of September 2025, as announced recently. The company is transitioning to the Wear OS system developed by Google.
Samsung is shutting down the Tizen-based watch stand.
After a Reddit user named Seaweed_Maximum shared a screenshot, it was revealed that Samsung intends to stop supporting Tizen. Starting September 30, 2025, certain features and experiences on watches not transitioning to Wear OS, such as the Galaxy Watch 3, will no longer be accessible.
Samsung’s plan to deactivate the Galaxy Store for Tizen devices is well-defined and thorough. Starting on September 30, 2024, paid content such as apps and watch faces will no longer be offered on the platform.
On May 31, 2025, the transition will progress as the Galaxy Store will stop supporting the installation of free content on Tizen smartwatches. Existing applications will still function, but once removed, they cannot be reinstalled.
The last action will occur on September 30, 2025, as the “My apps” section on the Galaxy Store for Tizen devices will no longer allow the reinstallation of apps, resulting in users losing access to all content on this platform.
Which watches will experience an impact?
All smart watch models released prior to the Galaxy Watch 4, the first to incorporate Google’s Wear OS 3, will no longer receive support from Samsung.

Samsung updated its official page to encourage developers to create apps that work with Wear OS instead of Tizen. This means that developers won’t be able to release new apps for Tizen in the future.
