Windows XP was launched in 2001 and was the primary Microsoft operating system for approximately five years. Presently, there is a significant security risk associated with using Windows XP, as demonstrated by a recent experiment conducted by YouTuber Eric Parker in a video.
Parker conducts an experiment where Windows XP is connected to the internet without antivirus or firewall, resulting in rapid malware infection within ten minutes. The system is further compromised with the discovery of various trojans in Task Manager and the unauthorized creation of an admin user.

During the experiment, the youtuber connected the system to the network without using the internet. Subsequently, the computer was targeted by various threats originating from global locations like Russia and China. Additionally, the system experienced DNS modifications that rerouted its traffic to a private virtual server owned by the Chinese firm Alibaba.
Eliminating the viruses posed a significant challenge as many malware remained resistant to removal efforts and hindered the use of removal tools. This led Parker to suggest that the viruses were deeply embedded. It is advised to either disconnect Windows XP from the internet permanently or reinstall the operating system for enhanced security.
Safeguarding Windows XP
It is essential for Windows XP users to implement strong security measures like antivirus programs and firewalls to reduce vulnerabilities and safeguard their system and personal information from cyber threats.
