As the release date of the iPhone 16 nears in September, fresh information is emerging about the Pro and Pro Max versions, highlighting enhancements in screen quality and robustness.
Samsung’s OLED M14 panels, the brightest ever seen on an iPhone, will be featured in these models, offering superior brightness of around 1,200 nits and improved durability compared to previous models with 1,000 nits.

Apple will launch regular and Plus models in addition to the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, with the latter using iPhone 15 M12 materials. This indicates a strategy to differentiate screen quality across variants, with the Pro series consistently getting upgrades compared to the more affordable models.
The screen will also be available for Google Pixel.
Samsung Display has announced that Google will be using their advanced OLED panels in the upcoming Pixel 9 series and second-generation Pixel Fold. The panels utilize the latest organic materials and are set to be launched on August 13. The new M14 materials offer improved brightness, color quality, and device longevity compared to previous versions.
